Today was very busy and alot of work on my world. The only sad thing is that I did not save and lost everything after lunch.
This has been a good week and I truly enjoyed it. I'm excited about my progress and hope to continue with this project.

Who supports and who benefits from your participation in this project?
It is my opinion that the foundation, Lee County Schools System and NCSU are supporting me in this project. The benefits would be me, my students and the school system.
What other technology do you wish you could use or have support for?
I do not know any other technology at this time that I could use, however I am open for suggestions.

How do you see this game as a tool for connecting with your students?
I see this game as a tool to connect with my students by knowing more of what they do and what they are interested in. I think that they will be willing to explore new adventures with the games in health and physical education. They do alot of games in their other classes and this will be a new learning tool especially for my health class.

I feel much better today about what I accomplished however I am still about 2 days behind. I see a little light at the end of the tunnel. Maybe at the end of the 2 years I'll be caught up with the others. Have a great evening...

What interested you in video games as a form of teaching?
I know that the students love to play video games, however until this workshop I did not see the positive side of playing video games. I am a physical education teacher and I guess I saw the couch potato side of computers games. So now if a student does not play for hours at a time I can see the value of video games in the classroom. I can see my students really enjoying playing healthy video games.

What do you do well when connecting with your students?
The first thing I do to connect with my students is to speak to them as they enter my classroom. This usually puts a smile on their face and hopefully they will have a good day. I think I connect well with my students when I participate with them. I first demonstrate the activity and then participate with them.

Do you have any concerns about connecting with your students?
I do have concerns that some would want to be treated as a friend instead a student, that's why I treat all students the same. If one student wants to do something different or have a special thing they want to do I just say that "if all can't, you can't".

We were introduced to many new things today. Very interesting. I only need to practice, practice, practice. I think my little brain is overflowing. Hopefully tomorrow I can catch up. I feel like I'm a day behind - what we did yesterday I understand more today. What we did today I'm still lost. Have a great evening.

Describe how your students learn best.
My students learn best when I demonstrate the activity with them first. We also do alot of group work, which they seem to enjoy. They like fast pace, mini activities, and things that they can relate to.

Describe your teaching.
I teach health and physical education in a middle school. One week I teach health and the next week I teach physical education. During the health weeks I teach CPR, nutrition, drug abuse, fitness, self-esteem, safety, relationships, sex education and other health related topics. During the physical education weeks I teach team sports, individual sports, dance, fitness activities, fitness tests (fall and spring) and other related activities.

How does the technology you currently use enhance your students learning and your teaching? How do you know?

The technology I currently use enhances my students in many ways. The students that do not have a computer at home really need more explosure to the use of computers. They seem to really enjoy looking up a problem or question. Most of my students enjoy doing projects such as pamphlets or sign. Their finished product shows me that they are enchanced by technology. Also their comments are a way of telling me of their interest.

How do you currently use technology in your classroom?
I teach health and physical education for a middle school. The main thing my class uses the computer for is for research on current topics. I also have the students to design a pamphlet for a specific drug: researching the availablity, methods of use, effects, etc.
At my school we do not have enough computer labs for us to do much technology. I have to reserve it way ahead of time and then it may be cancelled. Most of the time the labs are booked for teaching computer skills.

Shutdown power off is our exit comment for the day. With this in mind I recall the many many times I have been lost. I am truly grateful for the patiences of those who helped me to find myself today. It has been an exciting day, a long day and a hurry up and wait day. Thank and see you tomorrow

What are you excited about?
I am excited about learning more about video games and using them in my classroom.
I am also excited about sharing this with my co workers.
